Temporary Orthodontic Anchorage

Temporary anchorage devices are temporary implants placed into the jawbone to assist orthodontic stabilization and retention. Elastics or springs can be attached to the implant to provide a vector. Among other applications, these anchorage screws may be used to decrease treatment time, replace headgear, or intrude or erupt malpositioned teeth.

The placement procedure may be accomplished with local anesthetic, and usually takes a few minutes. The devices are simply removed after treatment has been completed.
